A puzzle game mechanic, playable prototype
De-Flower is a prototype we were working on a few years ago, as a sort of side project while we were making Naked War. It was going to be our second game but we ended up putting it aside in favour of other work, and the fact it wasn't getting a great response from those we showed it to.
The concept is obviously a variation on the mechanic we've used in Sticky Balls and Magnetic Billiards. The big difference being that the interlocking flowers form rigid shapes. And of course they aren't balls so the way they move (by pulling the petals) is very different and quite interesting.
Anyway, we loved the actual game mechanic, and hope to go back to it given half a chance. We still discuss the game every few weeks, and come up with new ideas and variations. It's buzzing around in our heads, which usually means we'll be drawn back to it at some point.
We didn't spend too long on the actual protoype, hence the rough look, but we have a soft spot for the scary flowers.
Here's an early video of it in action. We definitely made more progress on the prototype than shown here, as we added a giant sun graphic, and a couple of other little things.

My gos...
