Not sure what's going on in this comic? Read the earlier episodes in the Main Series to catch up, or read the one-off episodes in the Shorts Series.
It's always those darn snakes.

Zob's other half.

Then why did Plok not even encounter a single snake in the Flea Pit?

Why does this remind me of Super Metroid?
Was this whole encounter based off that one part where Samus found that baby Metroid?

The metallic orange and the apparent body figure to some degree, plus the lack of visible skin could be seen as Samus-like (or perhaps Samus is Zob-like), and thus contribute to that effect. They may have had the same armor supplier in 1986. I think those are Zob's real oblique and serratus muscles, though.

It's not the same location.

I'm new to the comic. I can't believe I'm just now finding out about this! I used to play Plok all the time as a kid! It's so awesome to see the guy doing stuff again; thought it'd take Smash Bros. for that to ever happen (and I was well aware that, if it was the only way, then there was absolutely no way at all). I'm definitely going to be stalking this comic!
On topic, though, I'm quite curious about this character, and Xob as well. I'm waiting to see how this all ties together...

Welcome on board, WarriorWare!

Come to think of it, this comic kinda reminds me of the recently ended Smash Bros. webcomic "Brawl in the Family." Like, Wubba Duck is Kirby, Plok is Dedede, and Rockyfella is Meta Knight.
So that's TWO holes in my heart filled by this comic! :D

I never thought about it before but Metroid & Zub (Zob) both originated in 1986. Metroid is a far more sophisticated game of course. Zub is practically a mini-game in comparison.

"I've had it with these monkey-fighting snakes in this Monday-to-Friday fleapit!"
