Project Joy
All our ideas for a wonderful new 2D game
This is one of our dream projects at the moment. Project Joy the catch-all title for all the ideas we've been coming up with for a new 2D game.
It's not so much a specific game yet, rather it's a massive long list of things we'd love to do, tech we'd love to develop, game ideas we'd like to experiment with and graphical styles we'd like to use.
There's so much undeveloped potential in 2D, using the full power of modern 3D hardware. It's a shame that the few 2D games that do get made tend to be 'retro' games, or remakes or conversions of old 2D games or genres - projects tied to the limits of the past.
We want to use 2D without trying to ape 80's coin-ops or 8-bit consoles. 2D without worrying about pixels or sprites or characters or layers. 2D that looks to the future - a massive explosion of unadulterated, unrestricted, unbelievable gaming joy!
