Background colouring and shading was the last job, and fairly straightforward and fun. I used the simpler flat shading technique here (the same as what I've used on the Plok comics), which was quicker to do than the panel members' shading.
I was slightly concerned that this background section would be too prominent, and fight for attention with the panel members layer, but I decided that it would be easier to colour this in with fully saturated colours and full contrast, and knock the whole layer back in the final composition stage, rather than using more muted colours and and shading at this stage.
All colouring and shading was done in Photoshop. I really must get round to learning to colour in Clip Studio Paint, as the brushes are so much nicer over there.
