Subject: Project Joy Comics
A not-entirely-successful comic strip this Sunday.
I was attempting to get across the feeling of trying to talk - of feeling that there's something important that needs to be said - when you also find it impossible to talk. When there's nothing useful to say.
I should probably have added another eight panels of awkward silences in the middle to get the message across better.
Danny Whelan was a friend John and I had both known since school. He was in the same school year as John, and lived just around the corner from where we grew up in Stockport. He was also a video games programmer and we'd worked with him several times over the years at different studios around Manchester.
He was also a really lovely guy.
He was a healthy, 42 year old man who died with virtually no warning just after new year.
He will be sadly missed.
