Subject: Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint
Here's another little demo of one of the new features coming in Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint version 2.0 - just a 'tidy up' feature really, but we've added the ability for the app to remember where your game is up to between sessions.
I do think it's about time John recorded one of these demo videos. Maybe I'll see if he can do a demo of the prototypes coming in this version?
Anyway, what this feature does is store the state of the game after every shot, so if the app is closed mid-game, when you restart the app it will remember that you were in the middle of the game and give you the option to carry on.
Great if you're playing a long game on the bus, or if you're interrupted and have to close the app and forget about it for a day or so.
Currently if you close the app and instantly open it again, iOS4 keeps it in memory so you just carry on from where you were. But, if you run several other apps after closing (or manually close the app, like in the video), then the app is wiped from memory and next time you tap the icon it restarts from the beginning with the title screen. In the previous version, if this happened in the middle of a game, your game would have been forgotten. Now, it's saved!
Only a little feature, sure, and one that lots of other games support already, but we thought it worth adding.

So isn't this more a Resume function than a Restart?

Yeah, quite right. An English language fail from me there. It's not actually named in the game, it just happens when it needs to.
