Subject: Sketches
I've just got home from the pub on Friday night / Saturday morning.
John was up to talk about the new game, and we had a really good chat about what we're working on. I think this might be the most complicated game we've ever made, although hopefully it will appear simpler than anything we've ever done before to the end user.
All our talk is about how much information to present to the player, how to make it clear and easy to understand, and how much information we will need to hide and when it will need to be hidden.
My mind is boggled by how unlike anything else we've ever done before our new game is. It's really difficult stuff we're having to work out (John is doing the hard bits), and a lot of it is nothing like anything we've worked on before, but the final game should feel instantly familiar to our audience (if we do our job right).
This sketch isn't from tonight. This is the same pub, but from about three weeks ago. I did a couple of rubbish sketches tonight, but I've not scanned them in yet. This one is better.
