Subject: Naked War PC
This was a Wii channel title page we mocked up for a pitch of Naked War on the Wii.
I think at one point, to test it, I made it exactly the right size for the Wii screen, uploaded it to our server, and pointed the Wii version of Opera at the image and turned off the Opera UI. It looked great! Not sure if that will still work with this image, as my Wii is too far from my wireless router now to connect to the internet.
We always knew that the concept behind Naked War - the passing of turns between players - would be perfect for a closed platform with a messaging system, like XBLA or the Wii, but none of the console manufacturers are very friendly to indies, even indies with long console development track records.
As soon as we finished the PC version of Naked War, we put together a pitch doc for a modified Wii version. This was before Wii Ware had been announced.
We sent it to everyone we could think of at Nintendo.
We never got any response.
Then they announced Wii Ware, so we thought we could have another crack through that route.
Nintendo's Wii Ware developer application rules specifically exclude developers who work from home, which is what John and I do. No rented office space, no Wii Ware developer status.
We applied anyway, explaining our circumstances.
We haven't been approved.
Oh well, open platforms it is then!
