Subject: Roadhugg
I was so happy when I found this on a mis-labelled backup disk a couple of years ago. I'd completely forgotten that it even existed!
This is the title screen for the first game we worked on when we started our studio Zippo Games in 1988. My brother John did the game design, I did the graphics, and it was programmed by Steve Hughes. It was an Amiga only game (as it made use of some clever Amiga trickery to create the illusion of a rolling tube which was the main play area), that was a kind of driving action game set on the outside surface of tubular roadways (hence the Hugg of the title ) built around a series of planets.
The game was never finished. I don't think it was going that well, the money wasn't great, I don't think our publisher was too hot, then Rare came along with a much more exciting opportunity on the NES, so we dropped RoadHugg (or it was canned, can't remember) and Steve and I started work on NES Ironsword instead.
I really love this title screen though. It's a shame nobody go to see it at the time.
