This is another piece of concept art for our NES game Silversword (Wizards and Warriors 3), from around 1989.

This guy is the rather ineffectual King, who spends most of the game captured and tied up by the evil wizard who takes his place, as I recall.

Below the drawing are the actual frames of the sprites from the game. These were beautifully drawn by Lyndon Brooke, the other artist working on the game with me. I think this was the first project I ever worked on with more than one artist. We might have even had two programmers as well. It was a big project for us!

Prior to this, usually the only time more than one artist or programmer worked on a project was if somebody had messed up, and needed somebody else to come and bail them out. That was a fairly common occurrence, so sharing work between artists wasn't that unfamiliar to me, but doing it deliberately, without an air of desperation or in order rescue a disaster project that had gone wrong, was still a new experience for me.

I think Lyndon and I both did some pretty good work on this game.
