Subject: Solstice 2
Here is yet another of my old 3.5 inch backup disk labels.
I carried on my little tradition of drawing cute labels on on my backup disks when I started at Software Creations, and was working on Equinox on the SNES.
We didn't have any smart, centralised backup system back then. The computers weren't even networked. Each staff member had to take it upon themselves to remember to backup their work to a floppy disk every now and then. I was in the habit of doing this every Friday, and taking the disks home with me, with a couple of disks on rotation. Some programmers had a box of disks on their desk and would rotate through, backing up at the end of each day on the next disk in the cycle. Some people never bothered!
I think the boss would grab backup disks off people every now and then, but there was no proper formal system in place.
It's almost unbelievable, looking back.
