Subject: Wizards & Warriors 3
This is another piece of concept art for the NES game Silversword, which we worked on around 1989 or 1990.
This was a kind of mini-boss or guardian you met before one of the main bosses, I think ('district sales manager' kind of thing).
This time I've also dug out the actual finished pixel art from my backups, pretty much as it appeared in the game. This was still a fairly large baddie sprite by NES standards, so I could only afford two or three proper frames of animation (I think there were a couple more if you counted the mouth opening). I was really pleased with the dynamic jumping frame.
Below that is my actual work - the Dpaint screen where I drew the frames, cut out the individual sprites (manually) then set up the block of sprite VRAM data ready to squirt into the game ROM.
