Subject: Plok!

Another little piece of Plok promo art, from 1993, yet again with the Magic Markers that I fell in love with (and could finally afford) around this time.

The helicopter was one of the many vehicles Plok got to drive in the various secret bonus stages / short cut levels.

We've always loved characters jumping into vehicles. It's one of the main features of our more recent game Naked War, and it was even ripped off at the time in Yoshi's Island (along with quite a few ideas and visual motifs from Plok).

I think it was Ikari Warriors that first planted the idea in our heads. Both John and I loved that game in the arcades. It was like Commando, BUT YOU COULD JUMP IN THE TANKS!!

I think we've been trying to capture that feeling a number of times in various games we've made. We even wanted to add the flashing 'IN' arrow above the tank in Naked War, but didn't get round to it in time for release. We should put that in the next version.
